Powder Injection Molding (PIM),including Metal Injection Molding(MIM) and Ceramic Injection Molding(CIM),is a new modern technology which is combination of powder metallurgy and plastic forming technology.Firstly the selected powder and binder would be mixed and become proportional feed stock,then the part would be formed after the feed stock be injected into the mold cavity.
The liquidity of the mixture can be enhanced by adding the polymer as raw material,so it is good for mold cavity filling and shaping.After shaping,the debinding and sintering will be done,but some sintering part may need be densified further or heat treated or CNC machining. So the sintering parts not only possess the high complex shape and high precision,but also the physical and chemical mechanical properties the same as the forging parts.
By using the conventional CNC machining,the complex parts always be disassembled,while using the MIM, we can consider integrating the parts into one,so the procedure and cost can be reduced and the efficiency can be improved greatly.Based on these technology characteristic,MIM is very suitable to produce the part with micro size,high precision,high complex 3D structure and special required property.
Various material can be used on MIM process,such as the iron base,low alloy,high-speed steel,stainless steel,hard alloy,etc.Moreover,by researching the material composition according to customers’ requirement,any combination of alloy materials can be made.So Metal Injection Molding parts are applied to various national economy fields and has a broad market prospect.
