As we known,oil immersion process must be done for Traditional powder metallurgy parts (produced by compacting) ,but for metal injection molding parts,it is very rare to do the oil immersion after sintering,so many enterprises are not very familiar with the oil immersion on the metal injection molding parts.Althouth it is not necessary to do the oil immersion for most of the metal injection molding parts,but for some special porous anti-friction products,oil immersion process would become an important process after sintering.
Metal injection molding as one part of powder metallurgy,so many theories of powder metallurgy could be adopted to improve metal injection molding process.Oil immersion could not only promote the corrosion resistance and abrasive resistance property,especially for porous bearing materials,but also could make the bearing possess automatic oil supply property,so the times for lubricating maintenance could be reduced in the working process,in order to lengthen the lifetime.
The theory of mechanical property improving by oil immersion is that lubricating oil could enter into the metal injection molding parts,and the parts usually would get friction in the later working environment,so when the surface is undering a friction power,then the temperature on the surface would be increased,so the oil in the hole would be expanded and flow automatically from the hole,then the surface would form an oil firm and the oil firm has an excellent lubricating and anti-friction function.
